    1. New skipper or repeat skipper with new boat:
      1. Contact Ted Singsen in Newport, RI who will schedule you with one of the Newport safety checkers which can be setup for any available time up to the last date (see the calendar).
    1. Returning skipper with the same boat:
      1. Contact Ted Singsen to request safety check to be performed by a past skipper (usually chosen by skipper in their area).
      2. Specify date of safety check to Ted Singsen.
  2. Safety check process:
NOTE: Assuming we have Covid-19 requirements similar to early January 2021 it is expected that the
Safety Checker will stay in the cockpit while the Skipper shows all the safety items both wearing masks and
trying to keep social distancing as much as possible.  Of course this is subject to changes in state Covid-19 Requirements.
    1. Skipper:
      1. Verify all safety check items are present before actual safety check (start this process early)
        1. It is possible that one or two items may not be available (typically EPIRB or Life Raft that are being rented and the device may not be available at the time of the safety check). Verify these items with the checker or Ted Singsen when they become available.
        2. If more items are not available then you are not ready for safety check and reschedule with Ted singsen.
      2. Setup safety check items for easy check by safety checker.
      3. Skipper verifies all items by checking off all items on the safety check list (if do not have all items, request another date/time for safety check.
      4. Sign safety check sheet that you verify all items present.
      5. Support safety checker during the safety check process.
    2. Safety Checker:
      1. Verify all safety check items present per safety check list and check off on safety check sheet.
        1. It is possible that one or two items may not be available (typically EPIRB or Life Raft that are being rented and the device may not be available at the time of the safety check). The skipper must provide these items for verification to the checker or Ted Singsen when available.
        2. If more items not available then the skipper is not ready for the safety check.
      2. If not all safety items are present then setup remedial action and date/time for safety check with Ted Singsen.
      3. When complete sign safety check sheet.
